Mobile phone users 'using Google Maps in their millions'
Google Maps is a popular function with mobile phone customers, with more than 100 million taking advantage of the technology each month.
Vic Gundotra, vice-president of engineering at the search engine and author of its mobile blog, explains the growing numbers could be the result of regular improvements made to the navigation service.
While Google Maps was set up to help people get from A to B, its offering has expanded significantly.
"With recent additions such as Place Pages, you can now pick a nearby place by browsing information such as opening hours and review snippets for the places around you," writes Mr Gundotra.
Investing in a snazzy smartphone may be an ideal way for many to enjoy Google Maps, with models such as the iPhone and HTC Wildfire supporting it.
Those not set on Google Maps could instead snap up a Nokia phone, which offers its own Ovi Maps service.
