Mobile phone users offered chance to go under the sea
An exciting new feature of Google Earth could tempt a number of people to trade-in their existing mobile phone for a newer model.
This is because those with an Android-powered smartphone can access technology that allows them to take a tour under the sea.
Jenifer Austin Foulkes, product manager at Google and author of the search engine's Mobile Blog, says hundreds of images of the Monterery Bay Canyon have been taken.
The giant underwater natural feature is larger than the Grand Canyon and home of some rough and unusual terrain.
Owners of smartphones - such as iPhones, BlackBerry devices and Nexus One - are invited to zoom in, tilt the screen and point at various areas to enjoy a great view of the canyon, the writer explains.
Another device it may soon be able to use to access the improved Google Earth is the Nokia 5250, which the Finnish manufacturer has recently announced the release of.
