Mobile phone recycling: Microsoft gears up for Surface 2
Microsoft is already paving the way for a next-generation Surface 2 tablet, despite the fact that the first incarnation of the Surface is not yet available.
The firm will start selling its ultra-portable touch screen computers on October 26th, but the device is merely the first in a family of new handsets.
Microsoft's head of corporate communications Frank Shaw said that the developers behind the Surface tablet are working on the whole range that "fully express the Windows vision".
He exclaimed: "We are currently building the next generation and Surface needs you!"
Microsoft is keen to make the Surface as familiar as possible to Windows users, while introducing some innovative new technologies.
The firm is even considering creating a scaled-down version of its popular productivity suite Microsoft Office for the tablet, according to the Verge.
Surface uses a specially adapted version of Windows, known as Windows RT, which comes bundled with free Office software.
