Mobile phone owners 'will benefit from new Wi-Fi spots'
31/01/2011
Trading-in a mobile phone and upgrading to a newer model with the ability to connect to the internet may be a wise move by consumers across the country right now.
Edd Dawson, managing director at broadband.co.uk, says the decision of O2 to launch a series of new Wi-Fi spots around the UK will benefit mobile users.
He goes as far as suggesting Wi-Fi is now a more attractive option to customers than existing 3G technology.
"It's going to be good for people the more Wi-Fi spots there are available, especially on phones – it's much more desirable than using 3G," notes Mr Dawson.
He speculates that O2's motivation behind the provision of top-class technology is to tempt people away from 3G and on to Wi-Fi deals.
The network announced it is to double its number of premium hotspots in Britain by 2013 and opening it up to anybody with a wireless device.
