Mobile phone could be invaluable on busiest Christmas shopping day
Mobile phone users could be in a position to take advantage of deals and offers available from retailers on what one research firm is dubbing "mega Monday".
IMRG has revealed the first day of next week (December 6th) is due to be the biggest for online shopping on the festive calendar.
In total, Super Sunday and Mega Monday will see about £500 million spent by British consumers via the internet, with more than a quarter planning to up the amount they purchase online.
David Smith, managing director at the research company, says: "Consumers have looked to spread [costs] a bit more this year due to the economic climate, but December 6th is the day that our retailers expect sales activity to be at its highest."
Those with a high-quality mobile, such as an iPhone 4 or HTC model, may be best placed to take advantage by placing orders on the web.
Hitwise recently reported another common use for mobiles at the moment is to keep track of the weather, with climate-related sites receiving 80 per cent more traffic than normal.
