Mobile phone applications 'attractive to consumers'
Consumers could wish to consider mobile phone recycling in order to receive cash to put towards purchase of an Apple iPhone.
A developer for the iPhone has revealed that they have made $13,000 (£8,607) in one month from a self-developed Android application.
Thousands of apps are available for the iPhone, serving a number of purposes and many are free to download.
Dan Grabham, deputy editor of TechRadar, said: "Given the increasing popularity of Android handsets, I think we'll see a whole lot more traction with Android apps. It's also about Android being available on many different phones from various manufacturers."
He added that iPhone users already choose the device because of its apps and other handset owners will soon be doing the same thing.
According to Gartner, worldwide mobile phone sales to end-users totalled 1.211 billion units last year, a 0.9 per cent decline from the previous year.
