Mobile Broadband May Be Major Incentive To Sell Used Phones

An increasing number of people could be selling used phones in order to sign up for the latest mobile broadband offerings.

According to statistics from the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development, the take-up of the technology is becoming more widespread.

In 2010, some half a billion consumers around the world had invested in a wireless broadband connection, up by ten per cent on June of the same year.

Korea is leading the way with 89.8 residents out of every 100 subscribing to a wireless service, followed by Finland (84.8) and Sweden (82.9).

Access to a wireless broadband service allows mobile users to enjoy the benefits of web-based apps, email and standard internet browsing while on the go, which could be important both socially and for business purposes.

Ofcom this week approved plans for mobile operators in the UK to sell radio spectrum, which is likely to trigger an improvement in broadband.
