Microsoft Tablet Could Hurt Windows

Acer has claimed that Microsoft's move into the tablet industry could have a negative impact on its Windows ecosystem.

The world's fourth largest PC and laptop maker, Acer has reportedly urged Microsoft to reconsider its plan to launch its own tablet in October, according to the Financial Times.

Acer's chairman and chief executive has asked the firm to rethink its decision as other PC brands may react negatively to another rival in the market.

Microsoft announced earlier this year that they would be releasing its Windows 8 tablets on October 26th.

Spokesman for Acer Henry Wang told CNA that the move will have a negative impact on the Windows ecosystem because it isn't able to clearly define what the strategy and direction of the company is.
"Of course, we discussed the situation internally after Microsoft unveiled its 'Surface' tablet and we think the impact will be negative," he continued.
