Microsoft looking to recruit Samsung to its cause
Computer giant Microsoft has reportedly offered its South Korean peer Samsung $1 billion to manufacture mobile phones that support its Windows Phone operating system.
Nokia is Microsoft’s main partner when it comes to Windows Phone, however Samsung, HTC and Huawei have all produced smartphones that use the operating system in the past.
However, there has not been a major Windows Phone release for a while. Should Samsung agree to the rumoured deal, it would be its first device to use the operating system since the Samsung Ativ S.
Microsoft is in the process of absorbing the mobile phone wing of Nokia into its company, in order to begin manufacturing its own smartphones.
It seems as if the US firm is hoping that it can make Windows Phone as big as other mobile operating systems, such as Android or iOS.
