LG Optimus Nexus May Use Android 4.2

Google and LG could introduce an Android 4.2 mobile phone, the Optimus G Nexus, at a joint event next month, according to rumours.

Nexus devices are currently manufactured by Google itself but it seems that the second-most-valuable technology company in the world will be broadening the brand's horizons.

LG may have been allowed to use the Nexus name by adhering to standards supplied by the Android developer.

Part of these rules will of course be to use the company's operating system. The smartphone looks set to be featuring a new 4.2 version of the Android Jelly Bean platform.

The latest data released by Google shows that the majority (55.5 per cent) of users are still using version 2.3 – Gingerbread.

The next most popular (23.7 per cent) is Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, while the latest Jelly Bean 4.1 is used by just 1.8 per cent of owners.

Android 5.0, which will keep with the sweet theme by being called Key Lime Pie, is expected to launch in autumn 2013.
