LG Confirms That Huge Google Nexus 4 Demand Was Unexpected

Many consumers have had difficulty getting their hands on the Google Nexus 4 since its release on November 13th, and the manufacturer has confirmed that this is simply down to huge demand.

Head of mobile at LG Andy Coughlin said to CNET UK: "We are working closely with Google to ensure that those who wish to purchase a handset are able to do so."

Stock of the SIM-free handset depleted within hours of going on sale, and after re-release on December 5th the 8 GB models again sold out on Google Play.

Aspirant owners can order the 16 GB version of the smartphone now, but the units will not be dispatched for six to seven weeks.

There may also be availability from network operators like O2, but the SIM-free model has proved extremely popular thanks to a low price point.

Those who buy the handset on pay and go from the provider must spend £399.99, whereas it costs just £279 directly from Google.
