LG Announces Optimus Vu 2

LG has officially unveiled its upcoming Optimus Vu 2 phablet.

The device combines the facilities of a smartphone with the larger screen of a tablet computer.

The shape of the gadget is unusual as the five-inch screen is in 4:3 aspect ratio.

It therefore looks very square in comparison to the 16:9, 5.55-inch screen of its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system will power the device.

This is surprising, since other new gadgets, including the Note 2, are shipping with the latest Jelly Bean version.

Brits will be able to take advantage of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, with EE (Everything Everywhere) likely to be launching 4G in the UK soon.

The phablet will be packaged with a 'One Key' accessory. When the fob is pressed, the Vu 2 will make a beeping noise to help the owner locate it.

The device should be priced at approximately £530 and will be available in white, pink and black.
