Latest phones get reception boost from Vodafone
24/06/2009
Vodafone has unveiled a new system that it claims could help those with the latest phones maximise their signal strength.
Consumers looking to recycle mobile phones in favour of a more up-to-date model may be holding back due to the level of reception they receive in their home - and this is something the Vodafone Access Gateway aims to address.
The network states that by plugging the small box into a broadband line, the quality and reliability of a signal can be "significantly" boosted and will also allow better access to 3G services.
Ian Shepherd, consumer director at Vodafone UK, commented: "We are committed to delivering the best, most reliable network and this is another step towards maintaining a seamless service."
Available free on some of the carrier's latest contracts, the device can also be purchased for a one-off fee of £160, but will require a monthly subscription that starts at £5.
Earlier this year, Vodafone announced it had agreed to share access to a number of phone masts with rival network O2.
