Last Minute Buyers Turn To Mobile Phone Shopping

The number of men buying Christmas gifts at the last minute this year may half, as shoppers turn to mobile phones rather than the high street.

Stores across the country are usually packed with panicking people on December 24th, but it looks as though there will be fewer consumers having this stressful experience in 2012.

Over ten per cent of British males say that they have already bought or are planning to order presents for friends and family using their mobile phone, PayPal research found.

It seems that the ease of looking at and purchasing products using an internet browser or retail application on a smartphone gives customers no excuse to leave it to the last minute.

While some people may appreciate getting away from the festive crowds, others might like to go "showrooming".

Online psychologist Graham Jones explained: "Many people [...] will be in real-world stores checking out items to buy, then going onto their mobiles in a bid to order the item online and get it delivered."
