Kindle Fire May Not Do Well In UK

The new Kindle Fire, which Amazon is hoping will once again revolutionise the way people buy and read books, may not perform that well in the UK.

According to ZDNet's Ben Woods, in the US the Kindle Fire is supported by extensive Amazon infrastructure which includes videos, music, books and app downloads. However, the entertainment offering is not something that Amazon has pushed overseas, making the Fire much less desirable in non-US markets.

Carolina Milanesi, mobile analyst at Gartner told ZDNet that Amazon is also facing stiff competition from cutting-edge tablet manufacturers, which could hamper the Fire's uptake.

"With the arrival of the Nexus 7 and other 7-inch tablets Amazon will be pushed to deliver a Fire that has no hardware compromises," Milanesi told the news provider.

Working in Amazon's favour, however, is the fact that tablets are expected to outsell PCs in 2013.

According to Microsoft's vice president for Windows Web Services Antoine Leblond, touch will be the key method of computer interaction in the coming years, reports PC Pro.
