Japanese Carrier Leaks Details About New HTC Phone By Accident

Leaks, as we all know, are common in the smartphone world, but while it is normally the case that sites like @evleaks will get their hands on photos and other details, it is very rare that retailers themselves will accidentally release details.

This is exactly what has happened in Japan, though, where a carrier has apparently mistakenly released details of the latest HTC phone. Japanese carrier KDDI has leaked the information about what is known as the HTC J Butterfly 2.

While there is no guarantee that this is even a phone that will be released worldwide, it does look likely that this could be the much rumoured and anticipated HTC Deluxe 2.

The original HTC Deluxe was the international version of the HTC J Butterfly, which was a device that only ever got released in Japan, so it seems highly likely to us that these latest rumours are true.

The accident from KDDI came when it released a slider on its website that showed all the phones it will be releasing in 2014's summer period, which means that the HTC J Butterfly 2 could be out within the next few months.

It will be a welcome addition to the lineup - either as the J Butterfly 2 or the HTC Deluxe 2 - given that the previous version of the device was released in 2012. A two year gap is a rarity in the modern smartphone world, after all.

This is not the first time the phone has been rumoured, although it seems like this is the first concrete evidence that it will now hit the market some time in the next few months.

The last time it was rumoured for release, it was believed that the specifications included a Snapdragon 801 chip, Adreno 330 graphics, a 1080p display, a 13- and 5-megapixel camera, 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage.

It would also be reported that the device would run Android's 4.4.2 Kit Kat operating system.
