Is iTunes 10 with Ping triggering rise in mobile trading?
People may be trading-in mobile phones in large numbers after Apple released its latest version of iTunes.
The manufacturer has confirmed more than a million downloads of its new Ping system have been completed within the first 48 hours of it being available.
Many of these may have been at the request of users who wish to use iTunes 10 with Ping from their latest smartphone.
The technology allows consumers to add a social networking element to their music buying and playing, with Apple offering the facility to follow favourite artists and bands.
Meanwhile, it is also possible to track what friends are listening to and rate various downloads.
"As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing," suggests Apple's vice-president of internet services Eddy Cue.
And this could mean more mobile phones are traded-in as consumers continue to invest in the newest handsets, such as the Nokia N8, due for release later this year.
