iPhone 5 to have 'larger display' than current models
Reports have suggested that the new iPhone is set to have a larger display than any of its predecessors.
Sources familiar with the new device, which is expected to be released later this year, told the Wall Street Journal that screens measure at least four inches diagonally, compared to 3.5 inches on Apple's latest model.
Apple is facing intensifying pressure from the likes of Samsung, which has just released its newest marquee smart mobile phone. This had a 4.8-inch display making it one of the largest screens available.
Analysts have predicted that Samsung's smartphone shipments will double this year, while Apple's will also be significantly boosted by the new iPhone.
"If Apple ever released a lower-priced iPhone, that would be more of a sign that the changing market environment is beginning to affect the company," Mizuho Investors Securities analyst Nobuo Kurahashi said of the pressure the firm is feeling.
