Investment In Symbian Nokia Mobile Can Be For The Long Term

Mobile phone users currently considering whether to buy a Nokia N8 upon its release have been assured the Symbian operating system on which it runs is here to stay.

Ian, writing for the Nokia Conversations blog, says Symbian will create a number of benefits for both customers and the company.

He was detailing the thoughts of chief executive officer Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo and chief financial officer Timo Ihamuotila, who this week spoke to industry analysts about the system.

They expressed a desire to sell more than 50 million of the phones over the coming years and dismissed the idea it may only be a stepping stone in smartphone evolution.

The experts suggested Symbian will change the way mobile phones are created, with a uniform feel to many models a likelihood, as this will allow developers to create high-quality apps in a large volume to work across the portfolio.

Nokia says its N8 model will include a 12-megapixel camera and a video recording function.
