Huawei Ascend D2 Showcased At CES 2013

Huawei has launched a new flagship mobile phone, the Ascend D2, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The manufacturer has confirmed release in China and Japan, but is yet to announce whether Brits will get their hands on the gadget.

Android Jelly Bean 4.1 will power the device, meaning users have access to virtual application store Google Play.

Downloaded apps and photographs taken on the 13-megapixel camera will look fantastic on the five-inch Super Retina LCD display.

High resolution with "unprecedented colour accuracy and clarity" may also mean watching HD videos will be more enjoyable.

Many people end up selling their old mobile phone after dropping it in the bath or on the floor, but water and dust resistance alongside Corning Gorilla Glass mean this device is pretty robust.

Short battery life is usually one of the few drawbacks of owning a modern handset, but fast charging and low power consumption technology mean this is less of a problem.
