Huawei announces 3 new Ascend Android smartphones
Huawei has announced three new smartphones at the consumer electronics trade show, IFA, in Berlin. The company hopes to build on the success of the current range of Ascend mobile phones.
The Chinese manufacturer unveiled the Ascend G600, Ascend G330 and the Ascend Y201 Pro which all use the Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich, operating system. The company’s new ‘Emotion’ user interface was also revealed.
There is speculation that the Ascend G600 will cost around £235, and will be available on the UK market in the fourth quarter. It boasts a 4.5-inch screen, eight megapixel camera, a 1930mAh battery and dual speakers.
The Ascend G330 is slightly lower spec with a four-inch display, five megapixel camera and a 1500mAh battery. The most affordable of the three will be the Ascend Y201 Pro, which has a 3.5-inch display, 3.2MP camera, and a 1400mAh battery.
The vice president of Huawei Device Western Europe at Huawei Technologies, Lars-Christian Weisswange, said that “[Huawei’s]primary goal is to provide everyone with their perfect smartphone – without compromising on features and functions”.
