Holidaymakers 'have reasons to sell mobiles'
Selling mobiles prior to going on holiday could be a recurring theme around Britain this summer, as more people plan to use their devices while abroad.
Research by Frommer's Unlimited has found the number of consumers accessing information about their destination while away has doubled in the last year.
This is according to a survey of 1,700 users from around the world, of which 52 per cent admitted their most likely use for a mobile in another country is to search for travel details.
Giles Longhurst, the organisation's director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "The rise of the smartphone and the launch of the iPad since our last survey have clearly led to a more prominent demand for mobile content."
Selling mobiles in order to snap up such a device might be a shrewd move ahead of the holiday season.
The ipad 2 was released by Apple earlier this year, while there is speculation that the iPhone 5 may be set to launch later in 2011.
