Google's Waze could be under threat
Reports emerged earlier this month that Google had purchased Waze for billions of dollars in order to improve its software for mobile phones.
However, it has now surfaced that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has its eye on the purchase and wants to investigate the legality of it.
Google fought off competition from Facebook and Apple to seal the deal with Waze, which gives users information about local traffic such as constructions areas, accidents and petrol prices.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the search engine juggernaut has been contacted by the FTC and plans to review the purchase on antitrust grounds.
The report also reveals that Google has had to halt work integrating the community-sourced app, which is estimated to have cost the company more than one billion dollars, into its software until the investigation is completed.
