Google close to $1.3 billion Waze deal
It appears that Google is about to close a billion dollar deal on purchasing the mobile phone application Waze.
The popular navigation app received an offer from Facebook earlier this year, which was rejected. Waze has also turned down approaches from Apple in the past.
However, it appears that Google may have named the right price as Globes-business newspapers reports that the two companies could be about to make a deal.
It is thought the search-engine juggernaut has offered around $1.3 billion (£840 million) for the locally-sourced app that gives users information about the area they are in like traffic reports, petrol prices and police presence.
If the Waze deal goes through it will mean Google will improve its own location-based services and also get rid of one of its competitors.
However, the search engine company hasn't confirmed anything about the proposed deal yet.
