Google and Samsung form alliance
Although there have been reports that Google and Samsung are having issues, it appears that the two mobile phone giants have put their problems to one side for the greater good.
The companies have signed a new patent agreement that hopes to derail the future of Apple's iOS operating system. Samsung confirmed a wide-ranging ten-year licensing alliance, which means they will both share all their existing patents, as well as any future ones that are granted during the next decade.
It follows a number of reports recently that Samsung and Apple are having wars in the US patent office. With many of the decisions going the Cupertino company's way and the pair having to meet again in March, this could be the Korean manufacturer's way of upping the stakes.
The agreement also sees powerhouse Google added to Samsung's corner for any future battles, which can only help matters.
"This agreement with Google is highly significant for the industry," said Dr. Seungho Ahn, the head of Samsung's Intellectual Property Center.
