Energy-saving PHOLED screen rumoured for Samsung Galaxy S4
As consumer demand for green products increases, more mobile phone manufacturers are devising ways to reduce packaging, promote recycling and lower their carbon footprint.
Samsung could be looking to draw more environmentally-conscious gadget lovers by improving energy efficiency of their next-generation device, according to SamMobile.
An insider told the source that the Galaxy S4 will be equipped with a PHOLED screen, which is far more economical than the commonly used AMOLED alternative.
Owners of this handset are likely to be heavy users of multimedia, since the smartphone should feature top-end specifications.
Inclusion of the Android Jelly Bean operating system is likely, as is a powerful quad-core processor and impressive internal memory.
Buyers might therefore be able to browse, watch, listen and play for longer without being plagued by a low battery thanks to the PHOLED technology.
Speculation suggests that the mobile phone will be unveiled at the Samsung Unpacked event, which is set to take place on March 14th at 23:00 GMT.
