Do you buy items with your mobile phone?
Consumers may increasingly use their mobile phone to make purchases in the near future, if recent suggestions are anything to go by.
Businesses might already be taking note as a recent study by the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers found that despite a contraction in the advertising sector last year, the total spend on mobile phone advertising increased by 32 per cent year-on-year to a new high of £37.6 million.
Eva Berg-Winters, senior manager and new media specialist at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: "Very few people actually make purchases on their mobile phone yet, so this is holding things back a little bit."
She added that mobile advertising will increase once people began to make significant numbers of purchases using their phone, rather than just using it for media applications.
Apple's new mobile advertising platform - iAd - may soon allow mobile users to see products advertised and then buy them as it combines the emotion of TV ads with the interactivity of web commercials.
