Could consumers sell mobiles to join online shopping revolution?
Further improvements to the way items are bought online could persuade many consumers to sell mobiles and switch to a superior device.
The Payments Council has confirmed that the implementation of new regulations is set to make the process of buying online even smoother in 2012.
It noted that a ruling is due to be introduced that will see payments reach the recipient's account within 24 hours of being sent by buyers.
This should speed up the act of using a mobile to purchase goods over the internet and perhaps result in customers receiving their items faster than they currently do.
Commenting for PayYourWay.org.uk, chief executive of the Payments Council Adrian Kamellard said: "This is great news for consumers and businesses. More bills are going to be paid more quickly ... and the change will mean more certainty if you have been sent money too."
Research by IMRG recently showed consumers were likely to spend £186.4 million online on Christmas Day and almost twice as much on Boxing Day – much of which could have been via mobiles.
