Could 4G Expansion Mean Higher Apple IPhone 5 Sales?

Ofcom has confirmed that the auction of 4G airwaves in the UK has been completed, meaning that the service will be available through more mobile phone carriers in around six months' time.

Brits can currently only benefit from the high-speed internet service from EE, but Vodafone, O2 and Three will all set up their spectrum soon.

This means that loyal customers of these operators could take the plunge and purchase a Long Term Evolution (LTE) handset, causing sales to rocket.

Premium smartphones which can connect include the Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Nokia Lumia 920 among others.

Users who sign up for a 4G contract will be able to browse the web, stream music, watch videos and download apps quicker than ever while on-the-go.

Many consumers stay with their network provider for many years, as renewing contracts often means discounts.

Some also prefer the perks offered by different operators - those on O2 can receive special discounts through Priority Moments, while EE customers can get two-for-one cinema tickets on Wednesdays.
