Consumers could sell mobiles for Christmas and join m-sales trend
Selling a mobile phone may be a move that pays off this Christmas, should it be replaced with a device that is capable of accessing the sales on retailers' websites.
Research by mBlox, a payment specialist, has revealed one in ten British consumers will avoid the high street once the post-Christmas sales start this year and instead go shopping on their mobiles.
Rather than receive in-store discounts, customers plan to use sales offers and voucher codes.
Michele Turner, chief marketing officer at mBlox, said: "Our research demonstrates that 2012 is gearing up to be the year of mobile shopping, as more people choose this shopping and payment option as an alternative."
She added that a growing number of consumers are also prepared to use their mobiles to engage with brands and receive marketing material.
Research IMRG recently found Britons are set to spend £186.4 million online on Christmas Day, some of which will be the result of m-commerce.
