Cheaper Apple iPhone coming to market this year?
A cheaper Apple iPhone handset could be coming to market in 2013, bucking the manufacturer's premium device trend.
The sixth-generation gadget with 16 GB of memory costs £529 SIM-free, putting it firmly into the high-end bracket.
However, there has been speculation that the company will release a more affordable mobile phone in order to attract a larger customer base in destinations like China.
Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller seemed to deny the rumours in an interview with the Shanghai Evening News earlier this month, though.
He said: "Despite the popularity of cheap smartphones, this will never be the future of Apple’s products."
Conversely, a source told iLounge that a budget version will be coming in the next 12 months, sporting a low-cost plastic casing.
This insider also claims that the 5S device will be unveiled this year, looking very similar to its predecessor but with an improved camera flash.
