Carrier Reveals Potential IPhone 6 Release Date

The iPhone 6's release date is hardly one of the most difficult to predict for this year. The Cupertino giant Apple is a creature of habit, and we usually see its flagship handsets announced in September each year, with most predicting the same month for this year's launch event.

However, even before Apple has managed to send out its famously cryptic invites to the press, one mobile carrier has apparently let slip details of the date the new iPhone - believed to be a hugely different iPhone 6 - will be available to the public.

European Apple blog Apfelpage.de has made a claim that it heard from Officials at German network Deutsche Telekom, who say they have been told that the iPhone 6 will go on sale September 19th.

While it's not normal for Apple to tell carriers ahead of time when a device will be available, this seems to be as good a bet as any, as the handsets normally hit the shelves on a Friday, and last year the release for the UK, USA and Europe fell on September 20th.

Ahead of release, we know little about the iPhone 6, as is pretty standard with all Apple devices, but that doesn't mean the odd rumour and leak hasn't made its way out of California.

According to images snapped by one Chinese user on social media site Weibo, the phone will be bigger than other variants of the iPhone, with the backlight apparently being made for a 4.7-inch device.

So far, we've also seen images showing the mold for the casing and even a dummy device that have suggested the iPhone 6 will be markedly larger than its predecessors, but not as big as its competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2.

Other things we believe to be true include the fact that the design of the phone will change this year, with softer curves and a thinner shape both seemingly on the cards.
