Businesses Should Invest In New Mobiles For VoIP Technology

UK businesses are set to splash out on mobile phones with voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology in the coming years.

That is the view of Norm Bogen, vice-president of digital entertainment research at In-Stat, who says the concept is "growing rapidly" among companies.

He notes the technology relies on Wi-Fi, over which it works to provide services to cell phone users.

"The vast majority of internet protocol phones are sold to businesses. Consumer VoIP is still mostly analogue telephone adapters or residential gateways connected to traditional time-division multiplexing phones," states Mr Bogen.

Maintaining a knowledge of and investing in the latest models and benefiting from the technology they offer may be crucial for firms in the race to keep up with competitors.

In-State this month announced worldwide sales of IP devices picked up in 2010, while it predicts shipments of such models will top 40 million units in 2015.
