Brits 'not keen on paying via mobile phones'
The majority of people in the UK are not comfortable with the idea of paying for their shopping through their mobile phone, according to new research.
A survey by DiscountVouchers.co.uk revealed that 70 per cent would not use their handset to purchase goods, even if the technology behind it was secure, with shoppers preferring traditional cash and card methods.
Doug Scott, managing director of the website, said the results show many people still need convincing of the viability of paying for goods via their mobile phones.
"This proves shoppers are still very suspicious of shopping with their mobiles. If security is robust, there's nothing to worry about," he added.
According to recent research by comScore, there has been an increase of 163 per cent in the number of people in Britain visiting retail websites, shopping guides and auction sites via smartphones, compared to 80 per cent in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
