BlackBerry open to Android apps
Rumours are suggesting that sinking ship BlackBerry is considering taking native Android apps onto its mobile phone marketplace.
It is thought the Canadian manufacturers have been approaching Android app and game developers about the matter, though nothing official has been put in motion yet.
According to Good e-Reader, a new BlackBerry update will support native Android files directly, meaning that it won't take much work to get them running.
If the plan goes ahead, developers would only need to make BlackBerry World profiles and submit icons, screenshots and app descriptions in order to get their apps on the manufacturer's marketplace
The tech website claims it has been in touch with as many as four Android app developers at the CES 2014 event in Las Vegas. These insiders have apparently confirmed that BlackBerry has approached them about making their apps work on the company's BlackBerry 10 operating system.
It is also thought that those with BlackBerry 10 handsets will be able to download these apps directly to their smartphones.
