BlackBerry Curve 8520 An Approachable Smartphone

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a handset that is well suited to those buying their first smartphone, it has been suggested.

In news that may interest those selling mobile phones to trade up for the Research In Motion device, the manufacturer has this week highlighted its status as an "incredibly approachable" option.

The company said: "It provides easy access to email, messaging and social networking sites, as well as rich multimedia capabilities," adding that it was also the first to feature "an innovative touch-sensitive trackpad for easy navigation".

Other facilities highlighted include the full qwerty keyboard, Wi-Fi connectivity and two-megapixel camera.

The comments follow the launch of the 8520 on the Total Access Communication (TAC) network in Thailand, but the gadget is already available on contract and pay-as-you go options in the UK on Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2.

Managing director of TAC in south-east Asia Gregory Wade said the BlackBerry Curve 8520 may be "an exceptional choice for first-time smartphone users".
