BlackBerry Curve 8520 'a solid messaging device'

One of the latest phones from Research In Motion (RIM) will not disappoint those familiar with the firm's high performance keyboards, a new review has suggested.

According to Pocket Lint's Duncan Geere, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a gadget that offers the same kind of messaging facilities that the brand has become known for.

In addition to the full qwerty keyboard - which is an ideal solution for those who send a lot of emails or text messages - attention is drawn to the handset's bright screen.

However, the front panel of the entry-level device is noted as having a low resolution pixel count and a lack of 3G connectivity - which he concluded "might be a stumbling block for some."

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is also without the tracking ball that is a familiar feature of the RIM range, although Mr Geere said the replacement touchpad worked well.

Other models in the series include the touchscreen Storm - which is exclusive to Vodafone in the UK.
