BlackBerry considers selling out
It has been announced that a special group has been formed to try and consider "strategic alternatives" for the future of BlackBerry, which could spell the end for the mobile phone company.
The Canadian manufacturer admitted that "the company's board of directors has formed a special committee to explore strategic alternatives to enhance value and increase scale in order to accelerate BlackBerry 10 deployment", in a press release.
It then explained that such "alternatives" could include "possible joint ventures, strategic partnerships or alliances, a sale of the company or other possible transactions".
Although a lot of the firm's recent hardware and software has generated BlackBerry a considerable amount of money, it hasn't been enough to re-establish the firm among its rivals and its high price tags haven't managed to draw in the company's faithful users.
Now the firm has opened itself up to offers, it'll be interesting to see who comes forward to take a stake of the Canadian manufacturer.
