BlackBerry 10 may be premium-phone only in 2013
Gadget lovers looking to get their hands on a budget mobile phone sporting the new BlackBerry 10 (BB10) operating system may be out of luck for the coming months.
European MD at the company Stephen Bates told TechRadar: "We do not see us getting to the entry level tier for some time; certainly not this year."
At press events around the globe on January 30th, BlackBerry introduced its new software alongside complementary smartphones.
The full touchscreen Z10 device, which features a 4.2-inch high-resolution display and eight-megapixel rear camera, costs £479.99 on a Pay & Go contract from O2.
Pricing for the Q10, which sports the manufacturer's iconic physical QWERTY keyboard, has not yet been released.
BB10 boasts innovative features like Time Shift, which provides photographers with blink-free shots every time, as well as BlackBerry Balance for separation of work and play.
It seems that those looking to take advantage of these features this year will need to trade-in their old mobile phone for a premium or mid-range device.
