BBC To Broadcast Wimbledon To Mobile Phones

Mobile phone owners will be able to watch Wimbledon live on their devices this year.

For the first time in the history of the tournament, the public broadcaster will make live coverage accessible to those with smartphones and tableys - such as the Samsung SIII and iPad.

As well as live video feeds from the various courts, match highlights, bonus features and player interviews will be on offer.

The BBC is also continuing its trial of broadcasting live sporting events in 3D - something it did at the last Wimbledon tournament.

Wimbledon begins on June 25th. The ladies' singles final will be held on July 7th, while the men's singles final will take place on July 8th.

As well as the mobile BBC broadcast, an official Wimbledon app for iPhones and Google Android-based smartphones has been released.

It is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google's Play store.

The app is a reworked version of the previous Wimbledon app that gave fans access to live scores, results, draws and news - as well as player profiles.
