BBC News app for Android available on tablets
The BBC has announced that its BBC News app for Android is now available for large tablet devices and people will be able to download from the Android Market in the UK, which could see more people try and recycle their mobile phones to get their hands on a new device.
BBC Worldwide will soon be launching an international version of the app for audiences around the world.
This move follows on from the success of the BBC News app for Android smartphones, which has been downloaded more than three million times globally since its launch last year.
"This latest version, developed by our in-house team, gives an optimised experience for larger tablets – on devices running Android’s Honeycomb 3.0 operating system and above," mobile product manager for news at Future Media Kate Milner said of the release in her blog.
Figures released earlier this month showed that Apple are still way out in front of any other manufacturer in the paid apps industry.
