Apple working on a solar iPhone?
Apple may be looking into other options for the batteries in its upcoming mobile phones, according to new reports.
According to the New York Times, who spoke with ex-workers from the manufacturer, the Cupertino company is focusing on different technology for its power packs, particularly concentrating on the possibility of solar batteries and other motion-powered ideas.
The 'smarter battery' could be put in future iPhones or even the heavily-anticipated iWatch smartwatch. It seems that Apple is particularly focused on inductive charging for the iWatch, which has appeared in the likes of Google's Nexus 4.
It charges the battery by placing the devices on a wireless plate, but Apple is said to be working on a technology that would allow this to happen wirelessly through electromagnetic fields.
The iWatch and iPhone 6 are both expected to arrive at some point this year, with many citing June for the arrival of Apple's flagship. However, with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) just around the corner, it's possible that the Cupertino company could showcase some new tech.
