Apple unveils iPhone 5
Apple unveiled its much anticipated iPhone 5 at an event in San Francisco last night.
As many speculated, the device is thinner despite a larger, four-inch screen. Apple says it's the "thinnest and lightest iPhone ever".
It is also the fastest yet, with an A6 chip which makes opening applications, loading web pages and viewing images up to twice as speedy. The retina display with 1136-by-640 resolution should ensure pictures, apps and videos look stunning.
Customers in the UK will now be able to utilise the handset's 4G capabilities, as EE (Everything Everywhere) network recently revealed it would be offering the high-speed connection.
As the leaks suggested, new earphones will come in the box. Apple claims they were tested on "hundreds of people" so that a comfortable design accompanies high-quality sound.
The phone does not, however, boast Near Field Communication (NFC) technology as anticipated. Many other manufacturers have included this functionality in their latest handsets, which allows owners to use their phone as an e-wallet.
