Apple Store Selling Unlocked IPhone 5 Handsets

Consumers in the UK can now purchase an unlocked iPhone 5 handset from the Apple Store, meaning they can opt for different telecommunications network providers.

Just in time for Christmas, Brits can order a SIM-free Black and Slate or White and Silver device from the manufacturer's website.

The 16 GB version is available for £529, the 32 GB costs £599, and the 64 GB model sells for £699.

Buying a device with additional internal memory means that users can store more apps, music, image and video files on their smartphone.

Previously, customers could only buy the gadget alongside a contract with 3 or Vodafone providers, but they will now be able to use a nano-SIM from any network.

Buyers will receive the device, which has a four-inch Retina display, pre-loaded with the iOS 6 operating system.

Apple EarPods, which allow users to listen to music and make hands-free calls, are also included.
