Apple state its fine to keep iPad charging
Apple has claimed that its latest iPad offering has been designed to keep charging, even after its indicator says the device has reached 100 per cent charge.
Questions have been asked from critics over the accuracy of the new iPad's battery status and its recharging technology but Apple states it's part of its software to continue charging even when it states it is at 100 per cent.
"That circuitry is designed so you can keep your device plugged in as long as you would like. It's a great feature that's always been in iOS," vice president of Apple Michael Tchao told AllThingsD.
However, a report from research firm DisplayMate last week stated that the iPad is not necessarily 100 per cent charged even when it showed such a reading on its indicator.
A CNBC news report has also relayed a message from Apple that suggests charging the device for longer than needed could actually damage the longevity of the battery.
