Apple patents a three-sensor camera
Apple has been granted permission from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to allow the company to own new technology concerning the way cameras operate on its mobile phones.
The "Image capture using luminance and chrominance sensors" patent details that the new feature will include three individual sensors, each coming with their own lens.
It would use the combination of three sensors to enable the capture of three separate images that collect colour, light and other data. It is thought this would allow the user to take a photo, which is of much-higher quality and would work especially well in low-light conditions like Nokia's Lumia 1020 already does.
It's unclear when this will arrive in our iPhones, but it could see Apple keep up with its competitors which have also put a big focus on the camera features on their handsets, such as the Lumia 1020 and Samsung's Galaxy S4 Zoom.
