Apple iPhone 5C opens pre-order
Orders have officially opened for Apple's first "affordable" mobile phone as it has started taking numbers for the iPhone 5C.
It was unveiled at the company's New York event along with the powerful iPhone 5S which has the world's first 64-bit processor in a smartphone.
Apple is launching the iPhone 5C in nine countries initially which, along with the UK, includes the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan and Singapore.
The smartphone is pretty much an iPhone 5 with a plastic body, bigger battery and a slightly cheaper price. It will arrive in numerous colours with green, pink, blue, yellow and white all being available.
However, there has been no word about when the Cupertino company will be opening pre-orders on the iPhone 5S. It seems odd that Apple isn't allowing users to order both devices when the pair were both launched at the same time.
It's possible that the company is waiting for those who want to buy the cheaper handset to make their purchases before it officially releases its flagship handset.
