Apple iPhone 3G 'could lead to complex gaming'
One expert has agreed that while the Apple iPhone 3G has changed mobile gaming, there are further developments in the works.
Industry expert Robin Boyar told gigaom this week that the industry had come on in the past five years but the future of the sector could see more sophisticated titles emerge.
She went on to say that some of these alterations could include the introduction of more female-friendly titles, as although very little is currently targeted at the demographic.
"Women are actually playing mobile games slightly less than men, but women have just as many handsets," she concluded. "I think there's a real opportunity for developers."
Ms Boyar also agreed Wi-Fi and GPS location software could take a role in the future of portable gaming platforms.
This week, Gameloft announced it would be adapting James Cameron's Avatar for the mobile market, with senior vice-president Gonzague de Vallois promising "a riveting storyline and compelling characterisation".
