Apple Increasing A8 Chip Production

Apple's upcoming mobile phone - the iPhone 6 - has been the main focus of many reports since the company released the iPhone 5S. Recent rumours have concerned the size of the smartphone's screen, with some speculating that it could carry a display measuring nearly six inches.

However, this latest rumour is regarding the inside of the handset and the chip that is likely to give it its power.
According to the DigiTimes, the Cupertino manufacturer has reportedly asked three companies to supply its next-generation "A8" mobile processor. Amkor Technology, STATS ChipPAC and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering are all involved in the task of giving Apple the chips that will likely feature in the iPhone 6.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is also thought to be involved in the process and, by the second quarter of 2014, TSMC is expected to increase production of the A8 chip.

This production date suggests that the iPhone 6 is on track to arrive later this year, with some reports citing June as a possible release date.
