Apple hit by Samsung patent
Some of Apple's older mobile phones will be restricted within America as the US International Trade Commission (ITC) judged that the devices were breaching a patent held by Samsung.
The ITC gave the iPhone company a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order that limits the importation of the products that infringe the patent.
If the ban comes into effect then Apple would be restricted in terms of the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3 models it could sell in Northern America.
The company is now in a "grace period" of 60 days where the decision will go to the President to either be approved or vetoed. If Obama wavers the decision then nothing will happen, but if he agrees with the commission, which is likely, Apple can appeal.
Kristin Huguet spoke for Apple to AllThingsD and said that the company plans to appeal the decision.
The Apple spokesperson said: "Samsung continues to try to block the sale of Apple products by using patents they agreed to license to anyone for a reasonable fee."
